Akhil B. Shah, MD

Kirkland

Dr. Akhil B. Shah was born to be a father (he was telling corny dad jokes long before his son was born), and is thrilled to be helping other patients start their own families. His ability to get along with everyone he encounters, motivate everyone to work towards a common goal, and empathetic nature make him a natural ally for his patients.

Dr. Shah has a keen interest in reproductive surgery and has considerable experience and training in hysteroscopy for resection of fibroids, intrauterine adhesions, and uterine septums. Additionally, he is experienced in minimally invasive robotic assisted surgical techniques.

Dr. Shah is originally from Illinois. He completed his undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and his medical school at the University of Illinois. He then completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. There, he was known to be a warm, empathetic teacher. He was awarded a Golden Apple teaching award by the medical students who rotated through the OB/GYN department. He also received the Best Resident Research Award for his research on the cost benefit analysis of minimally invasive approaches to hysterectomy. He went on to complete his Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. He is board certified in OB/GYN and board eligible in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Dr. Shah has presented on the dynamics of follicular blood flow using 3D ultrasound techniques at the annual Pacific Coast Reproductive Society meeting in 2017 and the comparison of frozen embryo transfer during natural and hormonally supplemented cycles at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine annual meeting in 2017.
