Contrast Media Shortage for Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is a radiologic test to evaluate a woman’s uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. This may be a test recommended by your provider.
There is an international shortage of Omnipaque, the contrast media used for HSG procedures. All formulations of Omnipaque are manufactured in a single facility in Shanghai, China, which is currently under COVID-19 lockdown. The manufacturer anticipates an 80% reduction in supplies for the next 6-8 weeks. SRM has enough supply on hand to meet all HSGs that are currently scheduled. At this time, our pharmaceutical vendors are unable to confirm when supplies will be available.
SRM will pause scheduling of HSG procedures. We will continue to monitor our Omnipaque inventory on hand and when our pharmaceutical vendors are able to deliver additional supply. SRM’s ability to resume scheduling HSGs will depend on the availability of Omnipaque and scheduling will be based on our inventory.
We recognize that this impacts our ability to deliver care in a timely manner and apologize for any negative experience this may cause. We are hopeful that this pause is brief, and plan to return to normal operations as soon as we are able to do so.
