Donor Sperm Insemination
An estimated ten percent of couples experience infertiliy problems. Of those, up to 40% are due to cases of male factor infertility. In many of these instances donor sperm is the means by which pregnancy is achieved. For a number of our patients artificial insemination utilizing donor sperm is an appropriate option. In other instances donor sperm is used in an In Vitro Fertilization cycle. In addition to cases of male factor infertility, donor insemination is used by single women and same sex couples.
SRM's Theraputic Donor Insemination (TDI) program was established to streamline the process of utilizing donor sperm while ensuring compliance with FDA guidelines. Our caring, dedicated TDI team have helped many patients acheived pregnancy using donor sperm.
See below for additional information on donor insemination at SRM.
Success Rates
The success rate of TDI varies depending on patient age. In general, the TDI pregnancy rate is around 10% with each cycle. It is recommended that most patients undergo at least 3-6 TDI cycles to give the treatment an adequate opportunity to be successful, depending on your medical situation.
Known Sperm Donors
Known sperm donors [i.e., who are known to the patient but are not her intimate partner or an intended parent of the resulting child(ren)] will be required to undergo screening, sperm cryopreservation and quarantine for at least 6 months at an established third-party sperm bank before their samples may be used for insemination at SRM. SRM is not a sperm bank.
