Morris, RN
Karen joined SRM in the summer of 2007. She served as the
primary Nurse in the Tacoma office over the first 7 months
of operation and is currently a part-time RN there. She joined
SRM because she was interested in taking care of women with
fertility issues and comes to the job with extensive experience
in the field. She completed her associate's degree in Arts
and Sciences at Pierce College in Tacoma while maintaining
membership in Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She graduated
with honors from Pacific Lutheran University with her Bachelor's
of Science in Nursing degree as well as her Bachelor's of
Arts/Global Studies degree. She has minors in Biology, Psychology,
and Environmental Studies. Most of her professional experience
has been at St. Francis Hospital, most recently as an RN in
the Family Birth Center providing patient care in the Labor
and Delivery unit, Postpartum Unit, and Neonatal Nursery.
Karen maintains affiliations with the American Holistic Nurses
Association and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
As a Reiki Master and a Certified ARCH Practitioner, she has
a passion for incorporating alternative therapies into medical
model treatments.
Prior to her career in the medical field, she was a Route
Supervisor for 12 years for Delicor Incorporated, managing
and training employees, increasing efficiency and keeping
turnover at a minimum. Leadership skills quickly identified,
she negotiated complex labor agreements as the Senior Director
of Labor Relations for 6 years, during her employment.
On a more personal note, she volunteers with Anusaran, a
nonprofit organization whose mission is to uplift and empower
the lives of deprived women and children in India, as a healthcare
volunteer and English instructor. She teaches CPR and first
aid to her community at the American Red Cross. She has served
as a Visitation Supervisor at the Pierce County Alliance,
administering visits with children by families struggling
with drug abuse.
"I have had a long-term interest in infertility that
began with my personal struggles to extend my family. Throughout
my education, I found myself repeatedly returning to the subject
of reproduction and infertility. After graduation I began
working in Women's Health and was drawn to SRM by the mission
to incorporate mind, body, and spirit in the care of couples
trying to conceive. I have both a personal and professional
perspective on infertility issues and look forward to my work
each day. SRM has provided me with a strong team of professionals
to grow with and exceeds my expectations as an outstanding
place to work."
