Chris has had over 6 years of clinical experience in the
field of fertility. He recently returned to the Pacific Northwest
area having obtained his bachelor's degree from the University
of Washington. He gained initial laboratory work as a clinical
technologist at Harborview Medical Center for a number of
years. He then moved to Minnesota to do virology laboratory
work and train new and incumbent lab staff in virology immunology
testing for the American Red Cross National Testing Laboratory.
While with the American Red Cross, he developed administrative
skills and assisted with the development of a new laboratory
information system.
Like most embryologists, in 1999, he became a clinical laboratory
scientist for the Andrology and Embryology Laboratory for
Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, gaining experience
in all andrology diagnostic testing, quality control, maintenance
of various sperm function tests such as semen analysis, sperm
penetration assay, antisperm antibody assay, sperm cryopreservation
and sperm morphology assessment, to name a few. In 2002, he
progressed to embryology work gaining experience with standard
IVF procedures such as oocyte retrievals, ICSI, preparation
of standard IVF media, grading and selection of embryos, embryo
transfers, and embryo thawing and cryopreservation. He also
has experience assisting with preimplantation genetic diagnosis.
His upbeat attitude and experience will be a valuable asset
to our embryology team.
On a more personal note, he is excited to be in the Seattle
area. He loves the outdoors and likes to hike and camp in
the North Cascades, kayak around Lake Washington and Puget
Sound, and bicycle around the Seattle area. He has also missed
the fresh seafood and coffee shops on every corner, not to
mention his family and friends who are extremely happy to
have him return home. You probably will be able to find him
attending a Mariners game or two and yelling for the Huskies
on the weekends during football season.
"I feel very fortunate to come back to the Pacific Northwest
to be around my family and friends, to be able to do the things
that I truly enjoy, and to work at an amazing place like SRM,
helping people to start new families."
