Carolyn McCann
Embryologist

Carrie received her bachelor's degree in Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Washington. During her years there, she gained valuable research experience in a developmental genetics laboratory, where marine invertebrates were used as models for studying the molecular signaling pathways that control fertilization and the early stages of embryonic development. She also studied as a research apprentice at the University of Washington's Friday Harbor Laboratories where she learned about the cellular mechanisms of egg maturation and fertilization.

Truly fascinated with the biology of reproduction, Carrie joined SRM in May 2008 as an endocrinology lab technician. Recognized for her careful attention to detail and passion for her work, Carrie was quickly transitioned into the Embryology laboratory in November 2008 and has been an integral part of the SRM Embryology team since then. Carrie specializes in optimizing the culturing conditions for embryos in the lab. She also studies the use of time lapse imaging for monitoring embryo development.

On a personal note, she enjoys running, playing soccer, and watching live performances at local music venues. She also likes to visit her former co-workers at The Confectionery in the University Village and taste all kinds of new candy.

"I have really enjoyed working as an Embryologist here at SRM. I feel fortunate to be part of such a close-knit team that values growth and excellence in our field; it makes my job both fun and rewarding."
